proxycost
About
proxycost is a calculator that compares what five Japanese proxy-buying services — Buyee, ZenMarket, Neokyo, FROM JAPAN and Jauce — would charge to land the same item at your door, including service fees, domestic and international shipping, and import tax where we could confirm it. It ranks them by that total alone.

Who runs this
proxycost is built and run independently by a single individual developer in Japan. It is not a company, and it is not staffed. There is no editorial team and no customer support line — just the person who maintains the code and the numbers.
Not affiliated with any proxy service
proxycost is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of Buyee, ZenMarket, Neokyo, FROM JAPAN, Jauce, or any other proxy-buying service it compares. We read each company’s own published price list and, where we could confirm it, its tax and shipping terms — nothing about the comparison comes from those companies vouching for us or us for them.
As explained on the Privacy page, no company pays us a referral fee today. If that ever changes for a specific company, we will say so by name, with the date it started, on that page and next to that company’s row.
How the ranking works
The ranking is decided by total landed cost alone — the sum of every fee we could confirm, for the item, weight and destination you enter. It is never adjusted for who pays us, who advertises, or who we like. The source code is not public, but every number that goes into a total is: see the assumptions behind every total, and tell us on our feedback tracker if one of them is wrong.
How we collect and use proxies' information
- We show the fees each service publishes, as facts, next to our own calculation of the totals. Each figure is tagged with the confidence level we assign — published, estimate or second-hand. Some figures tagged published still rest in part on an assumption or inference of ours. We do not reproduce the services’ pages, images or logos: when a note says what a service states, it says it in our own words, with a link to the page. The only exceptions are names, such as those of fees, shipping methods and stores.
- In each service’s cost breakdown, every fee, postage, tax and clearance figure links to the source we read it from. Two lines can have no link: the item price, and Japanese domestic shipping, which comes from the listing you add, a shop’s published rate or our own estimate.
- We have read the terms of use of every service listed here, and we read a new service’s terms before adding it. Where a service’s terms restrict reuse of its content, we take only facts from it — fees, rates and rules — state them in our own words with a link, and use no images or logos.
- If you represent a listed service and want information about it corrected or removed, write to contact@japanproxyguide.com. We will reply promptly, and remove information a listed service asks us to remove.
